Larimer County Straw Poll Results

Over 340 people atteneded yesterday at the Larimer County Straw Poll. The results....

4th Congressional District, Cory Gardner won with 44 percent of the vote, Diggs Brown 34 percent and Tom Lucero 21 percent.
Cory Gardner, the front-runner to an unsurprising first. Diggs Brown (who was a former city council member of Ft. Collins), took second beating well known Tom Lucero.

U.S. Senate, Ken Buck had 49 percent, Ryan Frazier 47 percent and Cleve Tidwell 4 percent.
Ken Buck edged out popular Ryan Frazier by only 2 points. Cleve Tidwell showed an unimpressive support he had at the poll.

Governor, Scott McInnis took 39 percent, Josh Penry 36 percent, Dan Maes 24 percent.
Scott McInnis beat Josh Penry in this straw poll. The two are known to be competitive (by supporters) in straw polls. Dan Maes finished third with a solid quarter of the vote.

  1. The two are not really "known" to go back and forth on straw poll results. Though Penry has captured a couple, he has only done so when he was able to stack the room (Denver GOP breakfast) with legislative types. The truth of the matter is that McInnis is cleaning up state wide, oftentimes at events Penry is in attendance at (most recently the El Paso GOP BBQ). So saying they are "known" to go back and forth is nothing more than spin.

  2. More proof of spin is in the Election Odds section (Colorado Polls idea). Anyone who puts Penry over McInnis at this point is obviously a hack and not a unbiased political observer. This site is a Penry schill site.

  3. I think Scott could easily win if he actually ran a good or semi-okay campaign. He can beat Ritter easily, hopefully Josh Penry doesn't take enough base support to win the primary.

  4. I was at the Larimer County Shrimp Boil and most people voted BEFORE they heard anyone speak. Dan Maes gave a great speech and most of the people there told him so. I had the oppurtunity to get to spend sometime with him and I truly hope he wins!

  6. Diggs Brown is probably better known in Larimer county then Tom Lucero. It's not shocking that he came out on top for this particular straw poll.

  8. I know Dan Maes personally and am convinced that he would be an exemplary Governor! He has wisdom (a rare gift these days), humility, and Executive experience. He's truly a breath of fresh air in politics today and fully endorse him!

  9. then why don't you say your name if you fully endorse him?
